The committee discussed who the Chair would be, and Cllr Williams was nominated and voted in.

Minutes:

The committee had a brief discussion about last year's two-day event, highlighting what they considered successes and identifying aspects they prefer not to include in this year's Christmas event.

Discuss and agree format for this years event.

Activities discussed for this year’s Christmas event:

 

·         Inflatable snow globe

·         Flying chairs

·         20 market stalls

·         Santa Grotto

·         Walkabout Grinch

·         Stage with events booked all day

·         Face painter

·         5 carols at 5:00pm

·         Charity stalls

·         RNLI to turn on the Christmas tree lights

·         Lantern parade

 

Actionable items

 

Officers to source rides/snow globe, contact stallholders from last year assess level of interest, find a venue for the grotto (The Courtney was suggested), contact RNLI to discuss Christmas tree light switch-on, talk to schools in September regarding lantern parade and carols on the stage.

 

Cllr Williams will locate a Santa and a Grinch, source musicians/singers for the stage, and a samba band for possible lantern parade.

 

Cllr Rudge will talk to the Alice Cross Centre regarding their stall and the possibility of providing mince pies and mulled wine.

 

Cllr Jackson will discuss decorations for the Santa grotto with people she knows and report back.

 

A leaflet will be designed once stalls and activities have been confirmed, possibly asking for sponsorship to help cover costs and/or donate items.

 

The stalls will be £15/charity, £30/business and £50/food stall

 

This event will start around 11am, finish around 7pm and take place on Saturday, Nov 30th.
