To approve, sign and adopt the minutes of the Assets & Facilities Sub-Committee meeting held on 23rd September 2024.

Members considered the minutes of the Assets & Facilities Sub-Committee meeting held on 23rd September 2024.

 

The TC asked for an amendment to item 192 of the previous minutes. The money for the Community Units will not come from reserves but will be funded by the Public Works Loan Board.

 

Resolved that the minutes, as amended above, of the Assets & Facilities Sub-Committee meeting held on 23rd September 2024 be approved and signed as a correct and accurate record of the meeting.

Town Toilets (verbal report)

The P&FM and TC to give a verbal update

Minutes:

The P&FM and TC gave a verbal report and informed Cllrs that the tenders are now out for the 5 toilet blocks and Cllrs will be able to review and decide at the December full council meeting.

Community Units (verbal report)

The P&FM and TC to give a verbal update

Minutes:

The TC informed the Cllrs that TTC are still awaiting final planning permission and will report back. Teignbridge District Council are now proposing that the application should be a major project which, at this stage, is another obstruction and would cause further delay to the final decision.

Minutes:

The P&FM gave a verbal update and stated planning is in place and tenders need to go out.

Teignmouth in Bloom

To receive any update from the Teignmouth in Bloom working group and deal with any issues / questions (if any)

Minutes:

Cllr Lloyd informed the committee that no date had yet been set for the next meeting. Cllr Atkins asked Cllr Lloyd if she had received the email thread between the Chair and TDC resorts regarding the boats and Cllr Lloyd confirmed she had.

To receive and approve the minutes and actions therein of the Christmas lights switch on working group of 8th October.

Minutes:

The P&FM informed Cllrs that the Christmas tree had been ordered and will be delivered on the 25th November.

 

Cllr Williams updated the Cllrs regarding the Civic Carol Service and said everything is well underway.

 

The minutes from the previous Christmas Lights Switch On event were proposed for approval.

Utilities Update (verbal update)

Minutes:

The P&FM gave a verbal update and informed the Cllrs that Bitton House now has fibre broadband but is not yet available to all of the tenants.

Other Works

Urgent works required to the basement following the demolition of the old toilets.

Minutes:

The TC told the Cllrs that there are structural issues in the basement of Bitton House which were discovered once the extension was knocked down. There is money in reserves for appropriate repairs and these repairs will be carried out as soon as possible.

 

The compilation of the next planning application re parking, windows, lifts etc is underway.

The P&FM informed the Cllrs that he has quotes for re-seeding the wild flower beds in Bitton Park next year and submitted the quotes for approval.

Exclusion of Press and Public

Members are recommended to approve the following resolution:

 

“that in accordance with the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960, the Press and Public be excluded from the meeting for the duration of the following items, on the basis that the information to be disclosed would be prejudicial to the public interest by reason of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted.”

The TC asked for the Cllrs’ permission to write to TDC to confirm they are criming all incidents in Teignmouth and if not, to start so that Teignmouth can get more police support.
